Overview

Altar Servers

Provide an important liturgical function by assisting the clergy before, during, and after the liturgy, and serving as prayer leaders for the congregation.

Altar Guild

Works in conjunction with our priests to purchase items for the altar and other supplies needed to facilitate Mass, while also maintaining the cleanliness of the altar and altar linens.

In addition to this work, we are dedicated to renewing meaningful parish traditions. We recently brought back the May Crowning. And during Lent, we reintroduced Simple Suppers following Mass, paired with the Stations of the Cross.

Our mission is not only to support the altar and provide for its needs, but also to look forward—reviving traditions that strengthen our community’s faith life.

Bereavement

A group of volunteers serves a hot meal for the families of parishioners whose funeral is celebrated at St. John the Baptist. Help is needed to serve, set up and clean up.

Choir / Music

Music is an integral part of every weekend Mass celebrated at St. John the Baptist. A variety of musical styles, from traditional to contemporary, is incorporated in the celebration of Mass.

Ciao Columbus

A community dedicated to exploring Italian ancestry. We warmly welcome both beginners and experienced researchers. Whether you are just starting your family tree or are deep into your genealogical journey, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others who share your passion and to access a wealth of resources, knowledge, and support.

Community Outreach

The avenue by which our parish has helped those in need in our community and the world. Their mission is to coordinate programs and donations for alleviating human suffering and outreach targeting the needy in the parish community and the Greater Columbus area.

Eucharistic Ministers

The lay Eucharistic Ministers are called “Extraordinary” ministers. They function only when recommended by their pastors and commissioned by the Bishop. This commission is usually for only two years with the possibility of renewal.

Feast Day Celebrations

Feast day celebrations are a way to carry on the traditions of celebrating different Saints on their feast day as they do in Italy. We celebrate St. Anthony, St. Joseph, and San Feliciano, to name a few. There is always a need for volunteers to help with these celebrations.

Festival Volunteers

The Columbus Italian Festival is in need of volunteers. Volunteers get free admission to the festival, a free dinner if you work 4 or more hours, free parking, and a shuttle bus ride to and from the festival.

Lectors

Proclaim God’s Word in the liturgy. When you answer the call to be a Lector, you enter a deeper responsibility with God revealed in sacred scripture. You take upon yourself the awesome duty and privilege of speaking God’s message. Your proclamation enables God’s Word to achieve the purpose for which it was sent.

Rosary Before Mass

All are invited to come and pray the rosary before Mass. The Blessed Mother has promised special graces to those that pray the rosary; come and experience the beautiful tradition of praying the rosary with your parish family. Children are welcome.

St. John the Baptist Cookbook

A subcommittee of the Social Activity Council that collects and publishes recipes contributed by parishioners.

Ushers

Serve the community by recognizing, welcoming, and caring for each member of the assembly.

Welcome Committee

The goal of our welcoming committee is to give every new family or individual a sense of belonging and help them become an integral part of our faith community.

Women’s Bible Study

Join other women to study Scripture and deepen your relationship with Christ.
